Castle Rock Trail Camp

Located about 3 miles from the Castle Rock State Park entrance parking lot via the Saratoga Gap Trail or the Ridge Trail.

During winter months when fire danger is reduced, campers can buy firewood at the camp. Fire circles are provided at each campsite – very unusual for a trail camp. No fires during FIRE SEASON, verify upon arrival or call the Castle Rock Ranger office at (408) 867-2952. If severe dry or windy conditions exist, fire restrictions may be in place at any time of year. Look for signs indicating this. Backpacking stoves may be used.

Waterman Gap Trail Camp

Popular as an overnight stop on the Skyline to the Sea Trail.  6 sites open May 1 to November 1; Reservations (831) 338-8861

Potable Water

The trail camp is located 6.2 miles from the Saratoga Gap trailhead or 9.3 miles for hikers who start at the Castle Rock State Park entrance parking lot. Large flat campsites in a wooded area. Backpacking stoves may be used.

Pit toilets are provided at all the trail camps.
