Since completing the Danny Hanavan trail, near the Castle Rock trail camp, the trail has been enjoyed by so many visitors that we’ve had to replace the trail guide brochures every few weeks! Remember: after walking the trail in either direction you can put the trail guide back in the box at the other end for other visitors to enjoy!
While this memorial nature trail does have one grand vista, it focuses on quiet, contemplative places within the wilderness, highlighting both the natural history and the human history of this special place.
We’d like to ask you all to join us in connecting with the larger world beyond ourselves, and take a hike on this self-guided nature trail the next time you’re down by the trail camp.
Thanks to Big Creek Lumber for donating the posts which make up the trail, and the volunteers, especially the scouts of Troop 37, for making this happen. (Danny Hanavan was a scout in a troop which no longer exists; he loved Castle Rock and his family originally set up the trail as a memorial after he tragically passed away)
